I thought I had Aston Pottery to myself when I visited last week. An upside of visiting a garden in the wind and the rain when no-one else is mad enough to be there. Colours sprung out from the grey drizzle and the rain drops made the flowers shine. But I wasn’t quite alone, the genius behind it Stephen Baughan was there working away on his creation. Totally unafraid of strong colour he uses it with aplomb and has created a brilliant spectacle for visitors to his pottery.
Its a brilliant place to find new varieties of dahlia’s and salvia’s The Hot Bank is packed with them and The Dahlia Border inspired me to try growing dahlia’s and grasses together.
Well worth a visit.
