The English Flower Garden

I am so excited to share that I have taken on a beautiful walled garden to grow cut flowers

Currently half the two acre garden is in production, and we have been very lucky to inherit a beautiful collection of perennials, shrubs and roses for cutting. These will be nurtured and added to for customers this year.

In the future our plan is to offer courses covering growing cut flowers & planting design as well as acting as host for art groups and all events botanical and creative.

The name The English Flower Garden is inspired by the Landscape designer William Robinson who was a leading exponent of the wild or natural garden. His book, The English Flower Garden, published in 1883, looked at alternative garden designs to those established by the Victorians.

I felt this was a fitting explanation of how this walled garden is making a transition from being a traditionally run Victorian Kitchen Garden to having a new identity, still as a productive garden, but focussed on increasing bio diversity and being very nature led in practise.

We want to create a garden that feels wild, romantic and productive, full of all the flowers the idea of an English Garden conjures up, but that also experiments with what that principle means moving forwards, and taking climate change into consideration.

This is a place for small groups to visit to be inspired and enjoy together, that volunteers and school children from the community can be a part of, and that ultimately encourages people to engage with nature and revel in the beauty of flowers.

Iā€™d love you to come and join us on the journey.
