Ragwort

from £60.00

Common ragwort (Jacobea vulgaris) has long had a reputation as a poisonous weed of paddocks, pastures, and waste ground. But animals generally know to avoid it, and its bright yellow flower heads are a magnet for bees and other insects - most notably the colourful cinnabar moth and daisy carpenter bee - making it a vital part of our biodiversity. in fact, over 277 different insect species rely on it. Ragwort has flourished at Knepp, and is the plant most synonymous with the walks and moments I’ve experienced there.
